| A manufacturer of
complex machines selling for millions of dollars frequently
has sophisticated customers who want modifications to
the manufacturer's printed form contract which our firm
prepared. Speed is of the essence because the salesman
wants to close the deal. We received a telephone call
from the client, immediately called the customer's counsel,
and within minutes, we e-mailed the customer's counsel
a revised agreement ready for signature. |
| A specialty chemical business, on a
nearly daily basis, faxes or e-mails us confidential disclosure
agreements for review. We are usually able to respond
and approve the agreement, or make the needed changes,
within a few hours of receipt. |
| A manufacturer of
medical devices which sells its products in the United
States through distributors is offered an opportunity
to appoint a Belgium distributor. From client's prospective
and ours, it was a very small deal. Through our membership
in Mackrell International, an association of 65 law firms
in 35 countries, we were able to fax the client's standard
U.S. distributorship agreement to the Belgium member attorney
with the request to mark it up so that the agreement would
work in Belgium. The markup came back the next day. The
fee was just several hundred dollars. |
| An ingredient supplier to multi-national
food companies is confronted with a core supplier agreement
which will result in a loss of that critical customer
unless promptly signed. Given Kraemer Burns' familiarity
with the core supplier contracts, we were able to give
advice about what is commonly negotiable and what is not,
and what risks may be insurable. |
| A client had terminated
the employment of an employee whose performance was deficient.
The employee would not leave the office, and insisted
on speaking to the President of the company, claiming
that he was the victim of illegal discrimination. A call
from the client for immediate advice on how to proceed
permitted the client to develop a strategy of how to handle
the matter and minimize the risk of disruption to the
client's business and litigation. |
